<p>A process for preparing a material comprising a metal or metal alloy or a dispersion hardened metal or metal alloy by (A) forming a soln. of at least one metal chloride which in the oxide form is reducible to the metal in H2 at 600-1800 degrees F and a lower alkanol, (B) adding an epoxy compd. to the soln. forming a gel containing at least one metal hydroxide, (C) converting the hydroxide to its oxide and (D) reducing it to the metal and (E) compacting the material. For a dispersion hardened material a metal oxide which not reducible in H2 at 600-1800 degrees f is added as a chloride at the stage (A).</p> |
