In a homing head for a high-speed missile for use in the hypersonic range (> Mach 3), an optical imaging system (18) and a detector (20) are arranged behind a cover (12), in a fixed position relative to this cover (12), which permits the passage of light to the imaging system (18). The cover (12) has an aerodynamically optimised shape with a surface which is curved even in the region of the beam path (28) of the optical imaging system (18). To correct the phase deformation caused by the cover (12), there is additionally arranged in the beam path (28) of the imaging system a diffractive optical element (30) in the shape of a binary optical element.
