Coupling device (16) for connecting a transverse fan (14) to the drive shaft of an electric motor (10). Portions of the drive shaft (12) are particularly shaped so as to fit into correspondingly shaped portions (40) in the coupling device. The coupling device further includes locking structure (48) for securing the coupling device to the transverse fan.
