PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio receiver capable of automatically setting the characteristic of a tuner corresponding to an antenna of a different type. SOLUTION: The radio receiver includes an antenna control output circuit 5 for driving an antenna amplifier 10 connected to the radio receiver, and a current detection circuit 9 for detecting a current flowing through the control output circuit 5. When the current flowing through the antenna control output circuit 5 does not reach a current discriminated as a connection state of the antenna amplifier 10 specified in advance, a control CPU 2 discriminates that the antenna without an antenna amplifier is connected. A storage device 7 stores setting values to the tuner depending on different types of antennas. The control CPU 2 includes a characteristic value setting means 11 that reads the setting value corresponding to the detected antenna type from the storage device 7 to write the setting value to the radio tuner 1.
