Thread storage and delivery device for textile machines, with a storage body forming a storage surface and with a winding member for the thread, the winding member and the storage member being rotatable relative to one another, in order to bring the thread from a feed side of the device onto the storage surface of the storage member and to form a thread supply, from which the thread is drawn off to the draw-off side of the device, and with thread-guide bodies which are arranged in the thread path from the feed region to the draw-off region and which have thread-guide surfaces covered with ceramic sintered material or consisting of ceramic sintered material, the thread being deflected on the thread-guide surfaces at different angles. With a view to especially favourable conditions of friction, at least the thread-guide surface (L) having the largest deflecting angle (180@- alpha ) consists of a high-density sintered material containing mainly nitride, carbide and/or carbonitride mechanically resistant materials. This sintered material is shaped in an encapsulation to form a thread-guide body according to an isostatic hot-pressing sintering process. <IMAGE>
