PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic nut tightening device capable of securing a required tightening accuracy. SOLUTION: A rotary disc, to which a pair of gripping pawls gripping a nut are mounted, is driven by an air cylinder via a gear train and a rack. A target value Ftar of output of the air cylinder is set not more than an average value Fave of values Fmax, Fmini corresponding to an upper limit and a lower limit of a nut tightening torque. Pressure of pressurized air to the air cylinder is adjusted to not less than a value Po corresponding to the target value Ftar and less than the value Pmax corresponding to the upper limit of the tightening torque.
