A digital broadcasting system and a method of processing data in a digital broadcasting system are provided to encode mobile service data additionally and transmit the encoded data to a receiving system. A signal receiving unit receives a broadcast signal including an internet protocol packet. A payload of an internet protocol packet includes a DSM-CC module data part and identifying information. A demodulator(8702) demodulates a broadcast signal including the received internet protocol packet. A data processing unit(8709) extracts a plurality of DSM-CC objects of the payload by referring to the DSM-CC header information of the demodulated IP packet. The data processing unit comprises a DSM-CC module including the extracted DSM-CC objects with the identifying information. A middleware engine(8710) operates an application corresponding to the DSM-CC module. Therefore a data broadcasting service is provided.
