PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately switch a drive system in accordance with a rotation start position and a rotation end position of a stepping motor.SOLUTION: A stepping motor controller comprises: drive signal generation means for generating a drive signal of a first waveform or a drive signal of a second waveform of which the position control resolution of the stepping motor is higher than that of the drive signal of the first waveform; and position detection means for detecting a rotation position of the stepping motor from the drive signal. If the rotation start position of the stepping motor is located at such a position that the stepping motor cannot be stopped by the drive signal of the first waveform, the drive signal of the second waveform is outputted until the rotation position detected by the position detection means is moved from the rotation start position to a position where the stepping motor can be stopped by the drive signal of the first waveform. After the rotation position reaches the position where the stepping motor can be stopped by the drive signal of the first waveform, switching from the drive signal of the second waveform to the drive signal of the first waveform is performed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
