The method includes the delimitation of a read zone on the ruled form image. The read zone being defined after each border of the zone of characters (153). A black series is extracted from the reading zone, each of the black series having a length greater than a pre-determined length (154 to 156). The elements of the image blacks corresponding to the extracted black series are changed into white images in the image of the ruled line (158 to 159). A black series corresponding to a ruled line amongst the extracted black series is selected (158). The black image elements corresponding to the selected black series are changed into white image elements.
