PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which has a plurality of communication means and is capable of reducing power consumption during a standby operation. SOLUTION: A condition for selecting the communication means is set on the basis of various kinds of tables and setting values stored in a condition setting storage part beforehand, and a connection request part of the portable terminal requests a connection to an opposite party apparatus to perform communication through all communication parts inside a radio communication part possessed by the portable terminal. A connection establishment part receives a response from the opposite party apparatus, confirms at least one communication means possessed by both of the portable terminal and the opposite party apparatus, and establishes the connection. A communication means selection part refers to the table stored in the condition setting storage part, selects and connects the communication means under the set communication means selecting condition, the condition of minimizing standby power consumption for instance, among the communication means possessed by both, and performs a standby operation. A control part disconnects the connection in the communication means which is not selected by disconnecting the power source of the communication means which is not selected in the communication means selection part.
