System for, and method of, heating a biological site in a patient's body

A system (10) for heating a biological site in a patient's body is disclosed. The system (10) includes: (a) a transformer (14) which has a primary winding and a secondary winding, where the secondary winding has at least one tap to provide a ground reference and at least two sources of radio frequency (RF) energy, and (b) at least one active electrode (16) which is connected to each source to apply energy from its associated source to the site, where the energy applied by the electrode of any one of the sources is out of phase with the energy applied by the electrode of any of the other sources.
