A rice ball 4 is wrapped in a pliable sheet 2 of dried meat, fish or vegetables. The dried sheet 2 is not readily affected by ambient conditions and moisture absorption. Therefore it does become soft or soggy as easily as conventional rice balls wrapped in a sheet made from sea moss or layer. In addition to having a variety of flavours, rice balls prepared with a dried meat, fish or vegetable wrapping have an extended shelf life and do not stick to the fingers when eaten as a snack. The rice ball is formed by adding a first portion of cooked rice to a mould of any shape, placing a filling ingredient onto this first portion of rice, then adding a further portion of rice on top of the filling, pressing the rice ball into shape and then wrapping in the dried meat sheet. The filling ingredient may include sesame, peanuts and almonds. |
