PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for improving high-temperature preservation stability of a skin care composition comprising a polyhydric alcohol extract from Engelhardtia chrisolepis of the family Juglandaceae, Betula japonica of the family Betulaceae or Opiopogon japonicus of the family Liliaceae. SOLUTION: The skin care composition is prepared by including (1) a plant extract assuming discoloring properties during high-temperature preservation and (2) hydroquinone and/or a derivative thereof. The extract from the Engelhardtia chrisolepis of the family Juglandaceae, Betula japonica of the family Betulaceae or Opiopogon japonicus of the family Liliaceae can be exemplified as the plant extract assuming the discoloring properties during the high-temperature preservation.
