PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of an atomic oscillator without enlarging the total length of a gas cell or shorten the total length of a conventional gas cell and miniaturize the optical module. SOLUTION: The optical module 31 has a structure, in which a light emitting element 33 and a light receiving element 34 at each predetermined position of a base substrate 32, a passive optical element 36 serving as light conductive means through a spacer 35, a gas cell 37 with enclosed metallic atom in gas state, and a trapezoidal prism 38 are laminated sequentially. Reflecting film 42a, 42b are formed at each predetermined position of two slanted portions of the trapezoidal prism 38 so that incident light is reflected at a predetermined angle. Reflecting film 43a, 43b are formed on each opposite side face in an elongated direction of the gas cell 37, and thereby light is subjected to multiple reflection at a predetermined angle and spread when the incident light propagates.
