<p>Acylcardenolides and their glucosides which contain one or more acyl gps. on the steroid or sugar ring are deacylated using 0.01-0.2M (pref. 0.1M) KOH in a mixture of water and an organic solvent at 0-50 degrees C pref. at room temp. The solvent is pref. 40% aqs. dimethylformamide or 20% aqs. pyridine. The reagent is superior to methanolic KOH in that it does not favour irreversible isomerisation to 14,21-epoxy derivs.</p> |
