1293035 Production of primary alkenols FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 30 July 1970 [1 Aug 1969] 36834/70 Heading C2C Primary alkenols are produced by reacting an alkenyl acetate in liquid phase at a temperature of from 0‹ to 150‹ C. with methanol in the presence of a catalyst which comprises an alkali metal hydroxide and/or alkoxide of a metal from the first to third main groups of the Periodic Table or a mixture or complex salt of these alkoxides. In the examples, allyl alcohol; methallyl alcohol; 2-methylene-1,3-propane diol; 2- methylen-4,4-dimethyl-1-pentanol are prepared using KOH as the catalyst. A long list of the metallic alkoxides and complex salts of these alkoxides used as catalysts is given in Example 8. |
