An angle sensor (5) has a pulser rotor (27) which is provided to the driven gear wheel (22) of time adjustment driving mechanism fixed at one of moving valve cam shaft. A cam pulser (26) of the sensor is provided opposite to the rotor and is installed in the time adjustment transmission chamber cover (24). The pulser is exposed outside from frame (F). The time adjustment driving mechanism for transmitting rotation of crank shaft to moving valve cam shaft is accommodated in a time adjustment transmission chamber, which is provided in frame along horizontal direction. The opening of chamber is covered by a chamber cover.
