PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary encoder in which a cord member rotates with the rotation of a shaft in such a way as to describe an accurate circle. SOLUTION: The rotary encoder comprises a housing 10, a detecting element 14 mounted to the housing 10, and a rotatable rotor 20 provided with both a mounting hole 21 at the center through which the shaft 50 is inserted and the cord member 30 opposite to the detecting element 14. The inner circumferential surface of the mounting hole 21 is provided with a spring member provided with both a base 41 and a plurality of tongue pieces 42 capable of biasing the shaft 50 in the direction of the center of the mounting hole 21 and positioning it at the center of the mounting hole 21. |
