PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electric double-layer capacitor electrode and manufacturing method thereof which is suited esp. for high current use and has a low intrinsic resistance and high capacitance. SOLUTION: A graphite structured carbide of benzene has a property of a low electric resistance while the carbide of a thermoplastic resin e.g. polyvinylidene chloride resin is superior for the electric double-layer capacitor electrode but has a high electric resistance. A mixture of the thermoplastic resin with benzene (S1) is heated over the m.p. of this resin or its endothermic reaction ending temp. with its melting and lower than the oxidation starting temp. to pre-bake the resin, this resin is cooled to ordinary temp. (S2) and pulverized into a powder, and the powder is heated over the oxidation starting temp. of the resin to form a carbon compact (S3, S4). This disperses the benzene in the resin and carbonizes it to produce a carbide contg. graphite dispersed in the thermoplastic carbides. This lowers the electric resistance of the produced carbide. |
