PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode which can be manufactured easily and is excellent in discharging characteristics of high efficiency, cycle characteristics and gas absorbing performance. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a hydrogen storage alloy comprises: a soaking process in which a hydrogen storage alloy is soaked in an alkaline electrolyte containing metal ions of cobalt and/or nickel at high temperature to deposit the metal ions of cobalt and/or nickel at the surface of the hydrogen storage alloy; and a heating process in which the hydrogen storage alloy having the metal ions deposited in the soaking process is heated at the hydrogen atmosphere. The hydrogen storage alloy which is subjected to surface treatment in the above processes is coated with the metal such as nickel and/or cobalt, thereby providing a hydrogen storage alloy electrode excellent in discharging characteristics of high efficiency, cycle characteristics and gas absorbing performance. |
