PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument for a vehicle which ensures novel visibility with a three-dimensional feeling in such a way that a display on a dial plate has a depth feeling. SOLUTION: The scale plate 20d is constituted of a nearly discoidal central part 27 and a nearly annular outer circumferential part 28 which is separated from the central part so as to be situated at the outside. the central part comprises an arcuate character 27a along the outer circumferential part. The nearly annular outer circumferential part is formed so as to be tilted to the surface side of the dial plate toward the outside from the side of the central part, and it constitutes the graduation character part of the dial plate together with the arcuate character part. A light guide plate 60A is formed by installing an outgoing end 64 facing the surface of the nearly annular outer circumferential part. A part of light from a light source 82 for light guiding which is incident on the light guide plate does out toward the surface of the nearly annular outer circumferential part from the outgoing end.
