PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device which can achieve a high damping effect, by using two kinds of materials having different yield points in combination so as to constitute the device. SOLUTION: The damping device includes a core member of an arbitrary material and a peripheral restraint member arranged around the periphery of the core member and made of a material having a yield point higher than that of the core member. Thus, the capability of absorbing vibrational energy of the core member is increased to thereby obtain a higher damping effect. Moreover, unless the peripheral restraint member yields, it restores to the substantially original state and it can fulfill its function repeatedly. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
