A web of toilet paper or kitchen paper towel has first (F1) and second (F2) web layers, each embossed with an inwards-directed conical indentation. The inward-directed peaks of the first layer have a surface area of pref. 0.3 mmdegrees to 4 mmdegrees. The second layer has inward-directed indentations which, by their size and position, exclude first-layer peaks from an intermediate position. The inward-directed peaks of the second layer have a surface area of pref. 0.03 mmdegrees to 1.2 mmdegrees. The second layer has more than pref. 40 indentations/cmdegrees. The two layers of paper are in direct contact with each other. Each layer of paper has a density in the range 10-40 g/mdegrees.
