PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and an image reproducing apparatus which can confirm an image before magnification even when electronic zooming is executed. SOLUTION: An A/D converter 105 converts an analog image signal outputted from an imaging element 104 into a digital signal. A camera signal processing section 106 converts the digital image signal from the A/D converter 105 into image data with an image size defined by a recording format. An electronic zoom processing section 106b electronically magnifies an image of the image signal. A switch 16c supplies the input image signal to or an output image signal from the electronic zoom processing section 106b to a recording reproduction processing section 109. When the electronic zoom processing section 106b is functioned and the switch 16c supplies the input image signal to the electronic zoom processing section 106b to the recording reproduction processing section 109, the recording reproduction processing section 109 attaches information denoting a zoom magnification of the electronic zoom processing 16b to each frame image and records the resulting image.
