PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chucking device to be used for a machine tool, which grips a thin-walled workpiece by a small driving force without adjusting the driving force of a cylinder, and also without deforming the workpiece. SOLUTION: Bushes have engaging steps on their outer peripheries, and comprise: a plate which is fixed to a plunger and engages with the engaging steps of a plurality of bushes; and an energizing means which is accumulated in pressure by the axial movement of the plunger in the direction of the rotational axis in releasing the grip of the workpiece, and presses the engaging steps of the bushes in the axial direction of the rotational axis. The plate engages with the engaging steps by an abutting portion that has no notch in the direction of the rotational axis and a notched portion that has a notched portion in the direction of the rotational axis. At least one bush among a plurality of the bushes engages with the abutting portion of the plate, and other bushes engage with the notched portion of the plate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
