DISPLAY PANEL AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate, an electrophoresis layer, and a shield electrode. The first substrate includes a first base substrate and pixel electrodes formed on the first base substrate. The second substrate includes a second base substrate and a common electrode facing the pixel electrodes on the second base substrate. The electrophoresis layer is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and represents a gray scale. The shield electrode is formed between two pixel electrodes adjacent to each other. The shield electrode faces the common electrode by interposing the electrophoresis layer, and receives a voltage corresponding to a black gray scale. So, the display panel with improved display characteristic can be provided.
