1,171,002. Coatings. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 11 Jan., 1967 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 1566/ 67. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C3] An article is coated on at least a part of a surface thereof with a pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a polymer which, prior to activation by heating, (i) has a crystalline phase and an amorphous phase in equilibrium at room temperature, and (ii) exhibits little to no tack, and activation by heating exhibits a substantial increase in tack, which is temporarily retained after cooling to room temperature before returning to the initial state of tack. The article is suitably a flexible backing such as taffeta, vinyl polymer, or siliconecoated paper. The polymer is suitably a polymer of a C 11-13 olefin. The coating may be applied by casting from solution using a gardner knife, followed by drying in a steam cabinet. |
