1,185,759. Moulding girders. "GRONTMIJ" GRONDVERBETERING - EN ONTGINNINGMAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 11 Dec., 1968 [29 Dec., 1967], No. 58939/68. Heading B5A. Articles of synthetic plastics materials are made by forming thin flexible shells of the material against formers, coating these shells on the surface which was not adjacent the former and pressing the coated surfaces together to form the article. Several shells may be pressed together and filling or reinforcing material may be incorporated between them. The shells are preferably made of glass fibre reinforced polyester and are stuck together with a wet layer of polyester. The process may be used to make "T", "L" or "U" girders or hollow tubes, the tube being pressurized by air during pressing in the latter case. In the apparatus shown, three shells 1, 2, 3 of glass fibre reinforced polyester coated with a layer 39, 41 of wet polyester and supplied with filler material 10 and 42 are pressed together between three mould members 22, 23, 34 to form a "T" girder. |
