1,249,613.γ-Cyanobutyraldimines. STAMICARBON N.V. 3 Feb., 1970 [8 Feb., 1969], No. 5124/70. Heading C2C.γ-Cyanobuturaldimines are prepared by reacting an acetaldimine with acrylonitrile in a molar ratio of at least 0À8 : 1 at at 70‹ to 130‹ C. and separating the non-converted starting materials from the product after not more than 50% of the acrylonitrile has been converted. The acetaldimine preferably contains a secondary or tertiary carbon atom bound to the nitrogen atom such as N-cyclohexyl and N-tbutylacetaldimines. The reaction mixture is preferably anhydrous although the reaction may be carried out in an organic solvent. By-products of the reaction include cyclohexylamine, N- cyclohexyl crotonaldimine (which may be hydrolysed to crotonaldehyde) and N-t-butylcrotonaldimine.
|
