Mounting assembly for temperature sensor

The mounting assembly fits onto the wall (12) of a vessel containing fluid whose temperature is to be monitored. The assembly comprises a barrel (16) joined perpendicularly to the wall (12) forming a location (36) for the temperature probe. The probe comprises at least one temperature sensitive element (18). The barrel (16) is lined with a thermally conductive liner (38,38a) defining the precise locating position for the probe and separating the probe from the fluid being measured. The thermally conducting lining (38) may be moulded into the inner surface of the barrel (16).
