PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption, by switching the power consumption of a transmission section so that it is reduced more than that of an existing line, if a pilot indicating that a spare line is in a waiting state is detected. CONSTITUTION:A spare line pilot indicating that a spare line is in a waiting state is detected at a detection section 3, then a switching section 5 switches that the power consumption of a transmission section 6 is reduced more than that of a present line. When the power consumption is less, the transmitted output is naturally reduced, but the transmission of only the spare line pilot is given for no hindrance if the output decrease is around 20 dB. When a present line pilot is detected to indicate the operating stage of the spare line at the detector 3, the switching section 5 switches that the output of the transmision section 6 is equal to that of the present line. |
