PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium obviating the necessity for forming an adhesive layer bonded to a receiving material in the thermal transfer recording medium, capable of easily forming an image on the receiving material composed of various different materials and capable of imparting sufficient friction resistance to a formed image. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer recording medium consists of a base material 1 and the ink layer 3 laminated thereon. The ink layer 3 contains a tetrafluoroethylene resin and this resin becomes a binder to make it possible to obviate an adhesive layer and the friction resistance of the thermal transfer recording medium can be enhanced by the tetrafluoroethylene resin.
