PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inexpensive fixing apparatus which lessens the thermal damage to a recording material at the time of stoppage and has high reliability by parting the recording material from a lamp and a heating roller at the time of stopping the recording material. SOLUTION: The heating roller 21 and the halogen lamp 11 are required to be rapidly parted from paper when the paper stops, far example, when printing stops. One motor is connected via a gear to the revolving shafts of a can 41 and a cam 40. When the printing is stopped, the motor revolves and the cams 40 and 41 revolve nearly simultaneously as well. A pressurizing roller 22 and a first fixing apparatus 10 move to the positions shown by an alternate long and two short dashes line. Consequently, the paper slackens and a pull roller withdraws to a stacker, causing the paper to move to the position of the alternate long and two short dashes line. The heating roller 21 and the paper are held apart. The first fixing apparatus 10 and the paper are held in the state that the apparatus is largely parted from the paper by adding the retreat quantity of the paper to the retreat quantity of the fixing apparatus 10. Then, the paper is no more subjected to thermal damage. |
