PURPOSE:To reduce the height of a fuel cell to enhance the insulating property between each gas manifold and each gas pipeline by providing a lower end plate with a drain groove leading from the bottom surface of one of the manifolds to the opposite gas manifold, the lower end plate being located below a cell-stack. CONSTITUTION:A fuel inlet drain channel 20 leading from the bottom surface of a fuel inlet gas manifold 2 to the bottom surface of a fuel outlet gas manifold 3 is disposed in a lower end plate 17 located below a cell-stack 1, and the manifold 3 is connected to a fuel outlet pipeline 7 by a fuel outlet drain pipe 12 via an insulating pipe 10. For the air side, similarly an air inlet drain channel 21 leading from the bottom surface of an air inlet gas manifold 4 to the bottom surface of an air outlet gas manifold 5 is disposed in the end plate 17 below the cell-stack 1, and the manifold 5 is connected to an air outlet pipeline 9 by an air outlet drain pipe 14 via the insulating pipe 10. Drain containing phosphoric acid that remains on the bottom surfaces of the manifolds 2, 4 is allowed to flow onto the bottom surfaces of the manifolds 3, 5 through the grooves 20, 21 and is discharged into the pipelines 7, 9 through the pipes 12, 14. |
