[Also in Division C3] A pressure sensitive adhesive tape comprises a backing having at least one coating of a composition comprising a mixture of from 90 to 50 parts by weight of a random block styrene-butadiene copolymer comprising a block of styrene-butadiene copolymer and a block of polystyrene, correspondingly from 10 to 50 parts by weight of a sequentially polymerised styrene-butadiene copolymer consisting of a central block of polybutadiene and two terminal blocks of polystyrene, and from 50 to 150 parts by weight of a resin which is compatible with said polymers and is at least partially soluble therein. Suitable resins include the pentaerythitol ester of hydrogenated rosin, other rosin derivatives, terpene resins, coumar one-indene resins, vinyl toluene -α-methyl styrene copolymer, fossil resin, ketone resins, and chlorinated polyphenyl. The composition may contain antioxidant, antiozonant, UV absorber, plasticiser, and filler and may be applied to the backing as a solution in an organic solvent. |
