<p>A halogen-containing copper oxide of the formula An+1CunO2nX¿2n+α? where A represents one or more alkaline earth metals, X represents halogen, preferably fluorine, n is 1 or 2 and 0 < α « 0.6 is useful as a superconductive material. The oxide may further contain carbonate. The oxide is produced by halogenating a copper oxide of the formula An+1CunO2n+1, where A and n are as defined above. The halogen plays a dominant structural role in the material.</p> |
