PURPOSE:To grind with high accuracies in flatness and parallelism and prevent the edges of the works from becoming dull by a method wherein dummy glass is adhered to the periphery of the work with an adhesive to fix the work, in the jig for grinding the end faces of a multitude of glass rods or the like simultaneously by lapping or the like. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of rod inserting holes are provided on the circumference of a ring-shaped block 12. The block 12 is heated to the temperature of about 120 deg.C and the dummy glass 13 for one face of the hole is adhered uniformly to the periphery of the rod inserting hole by the adhesive 17 having a high softening point. The temperature of the block 12 is lowered to about 80 deg.C, then, the block 12 is put on a blue plate glass 18 being heated to about 80 deg.C so that the dummy glass 13 is coming to the lower side and a rod being heated to about 80 deg.C is secured to the other dummy glass 13' on the other surface by another adhesive 16 having a low softening point. A multitude of works are ground simultaneously by a grinding machine such as lapping machine or the like under this condition. |
