A method of mounting a magnetic head on a rotatable support, e.g. for recording video signals, comprises temporarily holding the head in a jig and transferring it to the support of means of adhesive. As shown, the jig consists of a rotatable table carrying a centre column 10 cored 13 to receive the centre spindle of a video head mounting disc, and a pair of columns 18, 19 including tables 24, 25 adjustable in the axial direction by knobs 30, 31. The heads are located against reference surfaces 35, 40 and pins 37, 41 and held by vacuum applied to parts 38) 50. Optical instruments 42, 43 (not detailed, may be used in adjusting the heads. Adhesive is applied to the heads and/or disc and the latter located over the heads by the bore 13 and a reference collar 15. If the heads are accurately machined, they may be located on the jig by surfaces such as 35, 40. |
