The system, which can be applied to buildings of any size or type, provides a pleasing aesthetic effect as well as being economical, with a coloured plastic coating which is both colourful and corrosion-resistant. In the connection of individual components, in roofs, external walls and interior surfaces, use if made of carrier rails (12, 2, 9) with adjoining surface units fastened to them by means of conical or cylindrical spring steel sleeves sockets (1) acting with a tongs effect, in some cases with intervening elastic rubber components (13). A number of conical spring steel clamps of this type may be arranged in a row on carrier rails, the hollow spaces being filled with foamed rubber to rpevent damp penetration. The clamps are provided with plastic coatings in various colours, for a patterned finish.
