<p>PURPOSE:To ensure an accurate recognition of characters, by comparing the size of the island forming a character pattern with the minimum value of the island size decided by the type of the read character and thus detecting and erasing the stain on a slip. CONSTITUTION:The character group drawn on a read slip 10 is converter into the electric signals through a photoelectric conversion part 11. This electric signal is produced at a preprocess part 12 and in the form of an input pattern equivalent to a character and stored in a pattern recognizing part 13. In this case, the part 12 informs the position of the character pattern to a character type table 19. The table 19 sends the name of category to a lower limit value setting part 20 of the island size, and the part 20 sends the lower limit value of the island size to a comparing part 16. On the other hand, a island size detecting part 14 detects the size of island, and this size is stored in a island size storing part 15. the part 16 compares the lower limit value given from the part 20 with the island size of the part 16 and sends the information of this comparison to a stain erasing part 17. The part 17 decides the islands smaller than the lower limit value as the stains, and these stains are erased from the input pattern to be sent to a recognizing part 18.</p> |
