摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a three-dimensional optical guide having a circular section by supplying photosensitive liquid into a transparent vessel in such a way that its surface is kept constant at all times, bringing a vertically movable substrate in contact with the liquid surface and irradiating two-dimensionally scannable UV beam from the bottom of the vessel. CONSTITUTION:Photosensitive liquid 12 prepd. by adding a photopolymerization catalyst such as benzin ethyl ether to a monomer such as diallyl phthalate is supplied into a glass vessel 10 from an ampoule 11 under the controlling in such a way that the liquid level in the vessel is kept always constant from the bottom surface of the vessel 10. For example, 3 pieces of a gaseous N2 laser 15 is passed through a lens 16, and a mirror 17 from the bottom of the vessel and is so scanned that beam spots 31 approach to each other until they superpose finally to one. On the other hand, a substrate 13 mounted to the leading end of a supporting bar 14 is brought into contact with the surface 21 of the photosensitive liquid and is gradually pulled up, whereby these are polymerized continuously. In this way, an optical waveguide 38 having three pieces of branches of a circular shape in section is formed. Next, the liquid 11 in the vessel 10 is removed, and a transparent low refractive index monomer 39 is filled therein and is polymerized, whereby the transparent polymer block 42 having the waveguide 38 is obtained.
