PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound under mild conditions in high yield in a significantly advantageous way in terms of cost, by using, as catalyst, a complex composed of cobalt carbonyl and a pyridine base so as to enable both the catalyst and solvent used in the reaction to be easily circulated and reused. CONSTITUTION:This compound is obtained by reaction between (A) an acrylic lower alkyl ester, (B) hydrogen-contg. carbon monoxide and (C) a lower saturated aliphatic monohydric alcohol in (D) a solvent, a mixture of (1) an aromatic hydrocarbon and (2) a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon in the presence of (E) a catalyst, a complex composed of (3) cobalt carbonyl and (4) a pyridine base. It is preferable that the resultant reaction liquor is cooled to enough low temperatures to cause phase separation of the component (E) in the liquor; this component (E) is separated as a catalytic liquor and reused as a catalyst for the reaction; the component (D) is a mixture at the weight ratio (1)/(2) of 1:(1.5-10), and the component (4) is a 3-alkylpyridine. |
