<p>The blood pressure meter has a cuff (2) adapted to be fitted around the arm of a patient whose pressure is to be measured, and is formed with a cavity. The cavity can be pressurised and depressurised by a pump (9). The pressure is sensed in the cavity and representative output signals are produced. A pulse wave component in the output signal of the sensor (11) is then detected. The amplitude of the detected pulse wave is then determined. The systolic blood pressur, and the distolic blood pressure are then determine according to the determined amplitude and the output signal produced by the pressure sensor.</p> |
