A developing apparatus is provided to remove a need that a designated antenna for detecting electrostatic capacity is installed, thereby reducing a space and costs. A developing container(2) comprises an opening and contains a developing agent. A developing agent carrier(1) carries a developing agent in the opening. A detecting member detects electrostatic capacity between the developing agent carrier and the detecting member, and detects the amount of the developing agent. A force containing unit contains force which moves the developing container between the first location and the second location. A developing operation is performed by the developing agent carrier in the first location. The developing operation is performed by the developing agent carrier in the second location. |
