PURPOSE: A rear light source device having a reflection layer for improving luminance is provided to minimize the loss of light transmitting a rear substrate for improving the luminance of a display device using the rear light source device and minimize the doping thickness of fluorescent substances. CONSTITUTION: A rear light source device having a reflection layer for improving luminance includes a transparent front substrate, a transparent rear substrate(30) facing the front substrate, having an inner surface facing the front substrate and an outer surface at the opposite side, and formed with a plurality of discharge electrodes(32) and dielectric layers(34) surrounding the discharge electrodes, a fluorescent layer(36) formed on the dielectric layer, and a reflection layer(31) formed in the immediate proximity of the inner or outer surface or both surfaces of the rear substrate and having a plurality of spacers distributed between the substrates for maintaining a gap between the substrates.
