The end of an arm 1 for supporting trays or places or serving as a sign or forming a part of a rack or frame is formed with a neck 6 and a head 8 and is disposed in a slot 4, in a hollow slotted member 2 screwed into the lower part 3<SP>1</SP> of a post, An upper part 3 of the post is then screwed on to the upper end of the slotted member 2. A post may include more than one hollow slotted member 2 so that arms may be supported at different levels. The slotted member may have four, six or eight slots.
