<p>PURPOSE:To load a tape into both take-up and supply vacuum columns correctly at any time, by providing a tape brake unit. CONSTITUTION:Column spacer 14 is provided with tape brake unit 10 equipped with friction pad 18, spring 19, arm 21 coupled with pivot point 24, and diaphragm 22. Consequently, after tape 12 is wound around take-up reel 2 from supply reel 1, diaphragm 22 of tape brake unit 10 is expanded by supplying air to push arm 21 up and tape 12 is pressed against magnetic head 9 by friction pad 18. As a result, magnetic tape 12 is stopped from moving between left and right vacuum columns 3 and 4 and while the tape supplied from supply reel 1 is pulled into vacuum column 3 securely, that rewind from take-up reel 2 is also pulled into vacuum column 4, so that even when the pressure of vacuum column 3 and that of column 4 are unbalanced, the tape will be loaded into both vacuum columns 3 and 4 accurately all the time.</p> |
