PURPOSE:To avoid the generation of quick reforming reaction on a fuel pole by forming a catalyst layer in a fuel gas distribution passage of a separator, and utilizing the heat generating work of a battery itself to start the reforming before the fuel gas arrives the fuel pole of a unit cell. CONSTITUTION:A flat unit cell 3, in which a fuel pole 5 and an air pole 6 are arranged so as to pinch a solid electrolyte layer 4, and an adjacent cell 3 are connected electrically in series, and the cells 3 and separators 1 for distributing the fuel gas and the oxidant gas are layered alternately to form a fuel cell. As the separator 1, a compound separator obtained by laminating a heat-resistant metal plate 1A, which transmits the fuel gas, and a conductive oxide plate 1B, which transmits the oxidant gas, is used. A fuel gas distribution passage 1f provided in the metal plate 1A is formed with a catalyst 7, and the catalyst 7 is made to contact with the fuel gas before the fuel gas arrives the fuel pole of the cell 3 for reforming. Consequently, the generation of quick reforming of the fuel gas on the fuel pole is avoided, and the internal reforming reaction can be controlled. |
