In a split-phase motor for a refrigerator the starting winding is designed to have initially the same temperature rise as the main winding, a resistance for phase-splitting being provided outside the casing. A resistor of high positive temperature co-efficient may be used, or a normal resistor with a starting relay. The main winding circuit or the supply circuit includes a switch responsive to the temperature of the main or both windings. The temperature of the windings may be indicated externally.</p> |
