<p>A cylindrical or conical vessel has at its narrower end a pump rotor. The suction opening is at the centre of the end plate and the pump outlet is at the edge of the end plate so that outlet stream is directed along the walls. Two equal and opposite axial flows are generated. An intensely turbulent zone is formed between the two streams and this is used for mixing purposes.</p> |
